Putting items on sale beyond 45 days

How can I put an item on sale beyond 45 days using the Mark Down manager?

Summary 

You can only create a promotion that lasts for 45 days.  If you want to put items on sale beyond 45 days, then you will need to create a new promotional sale when the current one expires and put the items in the new sale.
